  • The movie is based on a true story and tells the tale of Chris Gardner who is a salesman living a happy life with his family(he has a perfect marriage and an amazing relationship with his 6 year old son) until one day his wife leaves him to do some 'self exploration' which is the only explanation that she gives him
  • After sleeping outside with his son for a few days and completely running out of money he finds a shelter where both he and his son can stay as long as they are in line at the shelter by five (which is a problem because he is interning as a stock broker on Wall Street) he has to race to the shelter every day so that he will have a place to sleep but fails to make it and sleeps on the street a few times
  • His hard work is noticed and he is the one intern offered a position out of 200 interns

I am a person who frequently struggles to see the point in going through life on a day to day basis but every once in a while I see a movie that makes me feel lucky to be alive. For me,”The Pursuit of Happyness” was one of those movies.

The movie is based on a true story and tells the tale of Chris Gardner who is a salesman living a happy life with his family(he has a perfect marriage and an amazing relationship with his 6 year old son) until one day his wife leaves him to do some ’self exploration’ which is the only explanation that

      she gives him.

The movies brings you along on his struggles as he attempts to sell his products( he is a salesman of a revolutionary bone density scanner which he has invested all of his savings in before learning they were unnecessary) and provide a home for his young son.

Things get rough for him and he becomes homeless because he is unable to sell the machines and hence he can’t pay rent and is having trouble affording food.

After sleeping outside with his son for a few days and completely running out of money he finds a shelter where both he and his son can stay ...

      • as long as they are in line at the shelter by five (which is a problem because he is interning as a stock broker on Wall Street) he has to race to the shelter every day so that he will have a place to sleep but fails to make it and sleeps on the street a few times.

He follows his dream of becoming an intern at a brokerage company which he wanted because he admired how every person who worked on Wall Street looked so happy.

He is able to turn his luck around with a lot of hard work when working with the company, he

does not take coffee breaks, bathroom breaks or drink water like the other employees so that he would be able to work faster and make it to the shelter by five.

His hard work is noticed and he is the one intern offered a position out of 200 interns.

In the end, he finds happyness despite how he has suffered and this movie has shown me that no matter how bad your life is things could be worse.

But also, you can do what it takes to change your luck and overcome those hardships.

I can honestly say this movie has changed my life, it is beautifully acted and very inspirational.
