  • I don't like the fact that you have to have a credit card or paypal to buy items on Gaia
  • I also don't like the fact that they have recently introduced a 2% tax into the marketplace system, forcing users to lower the cost of the items they are selling

www.gaiaonline.com is a great, fun site with features to appeal to most people. Run in California, it started out 4 years ago as a small chat community. Now, boasting millions of posts per day by hundreds of thousands of members, www.gaiaonline.com is the “fastest growing online hangout” (as quoted on their front page).

I love gaia for many reasons. First being is their avatar system. Each member has an avatar which represents them.

There are thousands of equippable items, so you can dress your character up, decorate them, whatever. Gaia is a free site, but they do offer the G-Store, which consists of a variety of associated product. Some of the more popular monthly collectible items can be bought as plushies, or there are t-shirts, hats, etc. Monthly collectibles are special, limited edition items. Once a month, Gaia releases two or three new items that can each do several things to your character. Members can obtain these items in a few ways: by purchasing via credit card or paypal for 2.50USD or they can use Gaia gold to buy them in the user marketplace.

I love gaia’s economy. Each user starts with 400 gaia gold, and as they post, play games, explore the towns and navigate the site, gold is granted or items are received that can be ...

sold to other users for gold. There are numerous forums for chatting, role playing, quests, charities and tonnes of others. By obtaining items through exploration, participating in quests and games, you can earn a lot of gold by selling these items.

Gaia is a friendly environment with something for everyone. It is PG-13 (so no one under 13 is permitted). With so many users, there are some really great members. A great way

      to make online buddies.

I don’t like the fact that you have to have a credit card or paypal to buy items on Gaia. I’m hoping they will bring in the paybycash system soon, like Nexon did. I also don’t like the fact that they have recently introduced a 2% tax into the marketplace system, forcing users to lower the cost of the items they are selling.

Over all, it’s a great way to kill time though.
