This book is quite a bit of fun for kids, but can be a bit complicated for less experienced readers, as is it is in the form of a bunch of letters. You pick up the events of the story from the letters and notes that the children and adults
write to each other, and you really do need to pay attention and read. Fortunately, it flows quite well and is interesting enough for many kids to go to the effort.
I find that both boys and girls enjoy this, and it seems aimed at 11 - 13 year olds, the age that children would go off to a camp for 4 weeks at a time.
