      Medalon is the first book in Jennifer Fallon’s Hythrun Chronicles. Medalon is the name of a secular country surrounded by religous neighbours. It is ruled by the Sisters of the Blade, an Aetheist cult, that takes prosecuting the pagan followers of

      the many gods to fervent extremes.

      The countries surrounding Medalon include Hythria and Fardonnya to the south - large nations that worship many different gods, and Karien to the north - a powerful nation devoted to one God. It is from the north that the greatest threat will come, as the Kariens are committed to placing their god above all others.

      Medalon is a good read. The characters seem a little forced, but the world is interesting. I have good hopes that this series will develop into a very worthwhile one.
