“Dead Silence” looks like it’s going to be corny and slow-moving. In some parts it certainly is.

The plot revolves around the old legend of Mary Shaw, a ventriloquist who had her tongue cut out by townspeople.

Of course her ghost comes back and takes revenge.

      But

the story is a bit more complicated than that.

Her revenge involves killing and stealing the tongues of her victims who scream when they see her.

(So, the point is that if you see this hideous monster of a woman, you should NOT scream.

) The ventriloquist dummy is ...

      • very foreboding looking.

In fact, all the 101 dolls that Mary Shaw had in her possession look exceptionally evil.

It took a little while for the story to get going.

And in some parts I thought that the main character was going around in circles.

        The

maker of “Saw” had a hand in this film, and it shows—from the sinister dolls, to the way that the victims are killed.

But the twist at the end is simply to die for (pun intended.

) Anyway, this film is worth a watch.

But don’t expect anything too terribly riveting.
