Starting from the ambiguous title, this flick sets up expectations for a superficial and possibly disgusting comedy with the kick-in-the-balls type of humor. The expectations are justified. Granted, “Balls of Fury” is a parody, but parody doesn’t have to be stupid or revolting, in my opinion.

Randy, the main character, is a former Ping Pong whiz who\’d lost a crucial game to an obnoxious

German player. That had not only ruined his Ping Pong career but also contributed to the death of father. Years later, Randy is sought out by the FBI and offered to go back to table tennis: the FBI is after Feng, a Chinese criminal authority and a Ping Pong fan who conducts underground table tennis competitions. Sending their man to the competitions is ...

      • the FBI’s only chance to infiltrate Feng\’s organization. Of course, Feng is also the man responsible for Randy’s father’s murder. The rest of the story is way too predictable: Randy agrees; Randy is no longer in shape so he trains; Randy goes, faces some danger and mischief, but eventually the bad guys get what they deserve.

With the storyline so unoriginal, the moviemakers had

to resort to something else to keep the interest. They chose violent fights and stupid humor, as well as some plain disgusting scenes as the one with chopsticks driven up a guy’s nose, and after that another guy eating with these chopsticks.

I rate this disaster of a movie 2 out of 10, and I sincerely hope they don’t plan on making a sequel.
