To Green Angel Tower is the sprawling conclusion to Tad Williams’ trilogy Memory, Sorrow and Thorn. And sprawling is an understatement.

Unlike the first two novels, the finale, at least in its paperback form, covers two large volumes of more than 800 pages.

Yes, this is really a trilogy in four parts, but

I believe Douglas Adams has the copyright on that phrase.

That being said, To Green Angel Tower is a treat to read.

Memory, Sorrow and Thorn refer to three magic swords, who are unique in that they are made of materials foreign to Osten Ard.

Memory is the translation Dvarish name for ...

      • Bright-Nail, the swrd of the former High King Prester John, which was made from the keel of the the longship of Rimmersman when they arrived in Osten Ard as invaders.

Sorrow was made by the Sithi Storm King by combining iron and witchwood - two materials that are inimical.

        And Thorn is the sword

of Camaris, made from a meteorite.

When the swords are combined, terrible forces will be released.

Tad Williams has created a series where the characters are real and the setting is fantastic.

The dialogue is smart and crisp, and the behaviour of the characters is real and not contrived.

This book is a very enjoyable read.
