Orcha, originally named OOrcha is a beautiful historical city near Jhansi in the state of MP,India. It was a seat set up by Bundela rulers and has some of the most magnificient palaces although rather smaller than some of the other Indian palaces.

But nowhere the grandeur of Orcha is dwarfed merely by its small

The main attraction is the Orcha palace which has been built by King Rudra Pratap in 16th century.

This palace offers some of the most magnificient scenic views.

The architecture is a blend of Indo Islamic style with local traditions adding rich value.

Another attraction of Orcha is Jahangir Palace which took some 16 years to ...

      • built and was constructed to celebrate the visit of Mughal King Jahangir.

Complementing interiors of these palaces are some of the finest murals of Bundela school of painting.

Adjoining the palace is the Laxminarayan Temple whose Aarti(Morning & evening prayers offered to the deity) is worth attending to.

Adding to its serene atmosphere is the

riverfront of Betwa, which is another beautiful sight.

One can easily reach Orcha via Jhansi (A distance of some 25 odd kms) and Jhansi being a junction is well connected to all prominent stations including Delhi.

Rajdhani express from Delhi takes around 4 hours to reach Jhansi.

All in all a visit to Orcha is an interesting proposition for all the lovers of History.
