  • My baby sister found this movie and the comical actions of the penguins to be extremely funny, but I found the social and political overtones to be distracting, and instead of adding to the message, they took too much away

Movies about penguins seem to have come out of nowhere in the recent months. With the obsession over March of the Penguins and the glee over Happy Feet, people are fascinated by penguins and the rituals surrounding them as they grow up.

      An approximation of

the true nature of how baby penguins find their parents, Happy Feet is an entertaining movie, though a bit heavy on the social and political commentary. It takes a single event regarding how baby penguins find their parents (they sing a specific song that ...

      • both the parent and child recognizes) and expounds on it for the whole movie, describing how a baby penguin who can’t sing instead decides to dance. That is his song, so the movie goes.

My baby sister found this movie and the comical actions of

the penguins to be extremely funny, but I found the social and political overtones to be distracting, and instead of adding to the message, they took too much away. In short, Happy Feet is a movie that could be fun if it didn’t take itself so seriously.
