Many lexmark printers take the universal black cartridge number 16 0r 17. My last two lexmark printers did so.

However I did try and save money and buy the refill kits only to find that after perhaps only printing out 25 times the cartridge would

      be empty again.

I did also find this with purchasing the remanufactured cartridges or the generic brand of lexmark printers.

Although paying $20 a cartridge may be expensive, buying the generic brands and saving around $2 to $3 it isnt worth it when you have ...

      • to only get to use the cartridge around 25 times then have to refill it again.

The refill process is not easy to do having to pry the top of the cartridge opened.

The ink may be cheap but getting the top of the cartridge

        pryed open is very hard.

It is much cost effective to simply buy the original Lexmark cartridge black ink number l6 or l7.

At least with the manufacturers cartridge you wil find you will get around 200 pages printed out, clear as a bell and no smudges.
