Thief of Time by Terry Pratchett is yet another installment in his popular discworld series. The novel features the return of Susan, the grandaughter of Death and Lu-Tze, the master monk.

It involves a nefarious plot by the evil Auditors to end the world by stopping Time by

      constructing a crystal clock.

As you might be able to tell, Pratchett’s imagination is still going strong.

Thief of Time was not my favourite Discworld novel.

I generally prefer the novels featuring Vimes and the rest of the City Watch.

However, there are still some good moments ...

      • in Thief of Time that makes it a worthwhile read for any fan of the Discworld novels.

The novel moves along at a good pace and the characters are interesting.

As usual, the novel has a cartoon feel to it - the characters border on charicatures - without

        any real subtlety.

However, they are not stereotypical in that sense, as Pratchett prefers to create characters that behave in ways unexpected based on their initial description.

Combine this with the usual humour and clever observations on society and human behaviour, and you have a good, if not great novel.
