      This dish requires several small, oven-safe ceramic pots with a lid. Each pot is a separate serving, so if you’re expecting a company of 6, you will need 6 pots. First, you dice mushrooms, if you are using fresh ones, and slightly roast them in butter.

      If you are using canned mushrooms, open the can,


      drain the water and roast them as well. Dice the meat.

      You can use beef, port, or chicken breasts. Mix the meat pieces with the mushrooms, add salt, pepper, and stir well.

      On to the pots. Place a small piece of butter into each one.

      • peel and grate several carrots, and place some into each pot.

        Then place the meat & mushrooms. The last layer is peeled, diced potatoes or rice.

        You can add a couple of tablespoons of water into each pot as well, to make sure there’s enough moisture. Another option is mixing some mayo or sour cream

        with water and adding that mixture.

        Add another small piece of butter on top. When you are done, close the lids, place the pots into the oven and bake for at least 40 minutes.

        I usually take one out after that and peek inside to see whether the dish is done or needs to be baked some more.
