2001 Space Idiocies is the 4th episode of the 1st season of Tripping the Rift and is to me the highlight of the show’s first season. As the title gives away there is a lot of riffing off of the movie 2001: A Space Oddyssey.

This episode succeeds in not only showcasing it’s typical lowbrow humor but also making some

social commentary that isn’t quite as hackneyed or blatantly in your face that you will see in most episodes of the show.

If they could have more episodes like this it would be a much better show overall.

The plot revolves around the planet of Kubrikia, where Chode is hired by the Dark Clowns to place a monolith.

      The ...

      • monolith turns out to house none other than Darph Bobo and a bunch of his stormtroopers who then proceed to take over the planet and turn the primitive inhabitants into their slaves.

Ultimately the day is saved by the Confederation.

        Or is it?

This is my favorite episode of the first season of Tripping the Rift: it is funny

and does the best of any of the episodes to highlight the whole conflict between the Dark Clowns and the Confederation.

It makes its points without being too in your face or overbearing (something they usually don\’t know how to do) and is all in all just a superior episode of the show.

I especially enjoy their use of their Hal computer knockoff.
