I am reviewing The Case of the Greystone Inscription, a Sherlock Holmes episode from the boxed set, Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Series 39 Thrilling Episodes. This series was produced by Sheldon Reynolds and filmed in France in the fifties. Ronald Howard, the son of actor Leslie Howard, stars as Sherlock Holmes, and Marion Crawford stars as Watson.

This episode finds another woman in need in Holmes help, after her husband has disappeared. Her

husband is a man who loves and studies history.

Upon discovering something historically significant in his studies involving something called The Greystone Inscription, he goes to Greystone castle. It is here where he disappears.

The man’s wife went to the castle herself, but was received very coldly and told that her husband had never visited. Holmes takes the case and starts by searching her husband’s home.

It is here where he finds ...

      • important documents regarding Greystone castle. Holmes takes a visit to the castle in question and things start unraveling themselves very nicely.

This episode is not very thrilling. In fact, it is quite boring.

Or at least, I found it to be so. It seems like they kept using the same old story, and it got a little old.

It seems like there’s always a desperate woman whose husband has disappeared off the

face of the earth, and that she needs Sherlock Holmes to help her. I don’t know.

It just gets a little tiring. This episode seems like it drags on for several minutes, and I didn’t enjoy very much of it at all.

Don’t waste your time with this one. The acting is terrible in regards to the supporting cast, and the plot is very simple and dull.

Don’t waste your time watching this one.
