This movie, a sequel in premise only to the earlier Bruce Almighty, is a fun PG rated film to enjoy with the whole family. Morgan Freeman once again plays God, with of course the ability to appear and reappear at will to whomever he desires. Steve Carell reprises his role from the first installment, where he played an obnoxious TV talking head reporter.

The movie starts with the Evan

Baxter character having just been elected to Congress, and moving his wife and 3 kids to the metro DC area. What follows is a romp through the unlikely events leading to his construction of an Ark, built with the materials and tools of Biblical times.

      • conservation. Sight gags abound, including some old fashioned slapstick during Evan Baxter’s early attempt at the construction process.

Couple this with Baxter’s character’s obsession with appearance and personal hygiene, and the changes Freeman’s God subjects him to become ironic and funny at the same time. And, yes, the 2 X 2 animals (especially birds) play a major role in the story.

Many of the “professional” critics have panned this

film. Perhaps under their spotlight in the search for perfection, they can justify to themselves such bad reviews.

However, I say to them “Lighten up!”. This film is truly funny.

Laughter and guffaws rang out in the theater when I saw the film. Take your family and go and enjoy a funny film without all the bad language and violence.

Don’t analyze it, just kick back and get ready to laugh.
