  • A previous low cost cordless drill that we had just did not have enough guts to perform the tasks required
  • The features that I like most about this drill/driver are the variable settings and the keyless chuck
  • The only issue with the Dewalt system is the weight of the drill/driver, which can be a little hard if you are doing a lot of overhead work

The DeWalt model DW980 Heavy Duty (XRP) 1/2″ drill/driver is yet another well built tool in the massive DeWalt line. This model comes with a hard case, two 12 Volt batteries, and a plug in charger for the batteries.

The reason we purchased this unit was to insure that there would be enough power and torque

available for the tougher jobs around the house.

A previous low cost cordless drill that we had just did not have enough guts to perform the tasks required.

This cordless 12V drill/driver has plenty of torque, and with two fully charged batteries, most do it yourself projects can be completed without recharging either battery.

The features that I like most about this drill/driver are the variable settings and the keyless chuck.

The settings on the torque adjustment collar provide you with the exact amount of torque you need for a wide variety of fasteners you may be driving or removing.

In addition, there are three (3) speeds available.

      All of the controls ...

are smooth and easy to change.

The keyless chuck is also a feature that makes changing tools a snap.

It is so easy to change from a drill bit to a driver head and back.

No messing with a chuck key tied off to a cord! This drill/driver will handle anything that a homeowner would ever

need to drill or drive, no matter if you are building a fence, a deck, or mounting shelves, or just about anything around the house that needs a drill/driver to complete.

The only issue with the Dewalt system is the weight of the drill/driver, which can be a little hard if you are doing a lot of overhead work.
