“Thr3e,” released in 2007, is based on a popular novel by Ted Dekker. It is a fast-paced, well-made thriller with a big time surprise ending.

Kevin Parson (Marc Blucas), a seminary student, receives a phone call from a stranger who demands that Kevin “confesses his sin” - or his car will blow up in three minutes.

Kevin has no idea what sin the man is talking about.

He manages to get out of the car before it

does explode, and the unknown stalker continues his game of cat and mouse, making phone calls and threats and giving clues in the form of riddles.

He appears to know Kevin very well, targeting those dear to him and referring to things in the past not many people would know about.

Ted Dekker does a good job tricking you to think that the story is about a crazy stalker while in reality he explores the subject of ...

      • a human mind deprived of the knowledge of true Good and Evil.

As we learn later in the movie, Kevin was raised by an abusive aunt (Priscilla Barnes) who had done her best to isolate him from the world and instill twisted, distorted views that had little to do with reality.

Since he was a boy, Kevin had been trying to sort things out, to see what was true and what wasn’t - to find some absolutes

        to hold on to.

Absolute Good and Absolute Evil take a rather unusual form in his mind.

“Thr3e” is rated PG-13 for violence, disturbing images, and terror.

While it is not filled with blood and gore, it does have some chilling moments.

We get to see a man explode in a car and a dog blow up in its doghouse.

The stalker’s continued pressing is rather unsettling as well.

I would not recommend watching this movie with young children.
