    • Item: Quinceanera (R, 2005) movie Location: by: Famous

This film was odd, yet very interesting in that it showcased a subculture (Mexican families) in a realistic pretense. The family at the core of this story

is not the “typical” poor migrant farmer families usually shown in films.

      This family is fairly well-to-do.

Additionally, we get to see the equivalent of the concept of the Sweet Sixteen (Mexicans ...

      • call their a Quinceaneara, “Sweet Fifteen”).

What is really special about this movie is the concept of the immaculate conception.

It is an unusual plot point to introduce in such a

        modern film.

But the way that it is handled by the characters is such that the story could be believable.

I enjoyed the story, and think that more films should use odd plot points and develop them around interesting characters.
