I've been trying different plant-based milks for the last few months and, apparently, I'm really picky since I don't have a favourite yet. This milk didn't find its way into my favourites either. Even though I like So Delicious and I think their coconut milk products are really nice, I hated that coconut milk.

I took a quart-sized package this time, because when you buy a huge carton of plant-based milk and end up not liking it, it's much harder to make use of it. I picked the unsweetened version, because I like to be in control of how sweet the milk is. And I know that nut milks don't have a lot of flavour to them, but I'd rather add some sweetener and vanilla flavour myself.

The ingredients list is pretty "clean" and the macros look fine. The coconut milk is second highest in calories after the soy milk, but it's also supposed to be quite thick and creamy, which makes it the best for certain recipes. But there is definitely something wrong with that milk.

It's written in capital letters on the package that you need to shake this thing well before using. And I did shake it for good 30 seconds. But the milk that came out wasn't exactly very smooth. I could still see the clumps in it. That didn't bother me much before those clumps started separating really badly, you can see that in the next picture.

It was pretty much the coconut oil pieces floating in the water. I was making the oatmeal with that and it turned out to be just like the oatmeal made with water. That really happened to me for the first time and it was rather frustrating. Has that milk gone bad? Did I get a bad batch? I don't know, but the manufacturer particularly wants you to shake the milk well before opening, which means that the separation was sort of expected.
I still tested that milk for frothing, because I always do. And it did froth a little bit, but there was no use in it, it tasted kinda gross, I could only taste the oil.

So what can I say? It was really the worst plant-based milk I tried. I couldn't even make oatmeal with it, it tastes like oil and I can't imagine what I can use it for.
