Have spare time but know nowhere to have low cost meal in airports? Usually this question arises during meal time, and you find only two categories of restaurants in airports, expensive and very expensive ones. This also applies in Don Mueang International Airport in Bangkok where a cup of instant noodle is priced no less than 40 baht (1.30 dollars); apart from overpriced and tasteless, it does not make full.
Not many people know, that Don Mueang airport has a medium-sized food court providing Thai and Asian foods with moderate prices. The name of the food court is Magic Food Point. It is not very easy to find as there is no signpost to this location. Perhaps at first it was intended to airport staffs only but then it opens to public, as I noticed there are a number of ordinary passengers, and even a tourist group with its identifier flag. Once you are in the international terminal, head to the north end and then take an escalator to level 3. Follow “Don Mueang International Airport Office Building” signpost leading to a long corridor until you see a large hall. Make a left u-turn and take an elevator to ground level to a parking place. Cross the street on your right hand, and you are there in the food court.
As many food courts in Bangkok, you are expected to buy coupons prior to put an order. Many foods are priced between 50 and 70 baht which is very similar to food cost in town. My lunch was chicken rice Hainan style which cost me 55 baht. It is very yummy and cheap. Do not forget to redeem the unused coupons.
