The first time I ever had cheese sauce on anything was when I was in high school doing a fundraiser for student government. I was in charge of the hot dog and nachos stand, and I found myself eating more of the cheese sauce than I was serving.

I went grocery shopping with my mom at the time trying to find the cheese sauce that had now become a guilty pleasure of mine, but to no avail; what I did find was cheese in jars that you could heat up, but they all looked unappetizing. I tried finding cheese sauce made by Kraft, but I couldn't find any at the time, and I tried making it from scratch but it just wasn't the same.

It wasn't until a couple of months ago when I came across Velveeta cheese products. The company has been around for a long time, and even though I had seen it on the shelves plenty of times I decided to remain loyal to Kraft's cheese products. Once I decided to switch to Velveeta's sliced cheese, I discovered they had cheese sauce available in both jars and in packets.

First I purchased the jar because it was the most convenient at the time, but I soon realized my eyes were bigger than my stomach and I was only capable of eating half of the jar. Then I noticed Velveeta has had their cheese sauce in a box of three packets. I decided to go with Velveeta's cheese sauce in the box because each packet was about one serving of cheese, and I didn't have to worry about wasting cheese sauce or storing it in the refrigerator.

The cheese packets have serrated edges which makes it easy to open, and I squeezed the stiff cheese into a bowl. Any bowl can be used to put the cheese sauce in, but I decided to go with a paper bowl because I could easily discard it. The back of the box instructs you to put it on 30 seconds, but I quickly realized the cheese sauce burns higher than 10-15 seconds. So I put mine on 10 seconds and kept a close eye on it.

When I removed the cheese sauce from the microwave it was smooth and no longer stiff. The taste was of rich cheese sauce that is only familiar to someone who has tasted Velveeta cheese products, and it reminded me of foods found at state and local fairs. The cheese sauce is not messy at all, and is very easy for me to add to my favorite foods such as nachos, baked potatoes, and steamed broccoli; it's easy to reheat, but I still had to keep an eye on it to prevent it from burning.
I also discovered the cheese sauce can also be used as a dip with the addition of various ingredients which I have become quite popular at my college game day gatherings. My favorite thing to put in the cheese sauce are roasted bell peppers, and the cheese sauce can be paired with practically any type of food; however, foods with a high concentration of water may need to be drained so that it doesn't water down the cheese sauce.

Velveeta cheese sauce packets in a box is my favorite version of the Velveeta product because it is easy to store, and each packet is enough for one person so I don't have to worry about it going to waste. They are sold at any retailer, but the price varies which is why I like to buy mine from Wal-Mart because it's the cheapest, or from Publix when they have a BOGO (Buy one Get one) sale. The cheese sauce can be paired with any type of food, and is especially a great base for cheese dips. It's definitely a guilty please that I just can't seem to wean myself from.
