Recently we made a major change in our organization system and went completely electronic. I bought 6 fujitsu fi7160Z scanners and scanned the last 20 years worth of paper in a matter of a month. The scanner was packed safely by the company and I received the package with any breakage. It comes in only black and white color and can scan upto 50-60 pages per minute. It is a bit on the expensive side but is worth every penny.

The size of Fujitsu 7160z is quite small and doesn’t need much space. I have kept all of my scanners on the table next to the LCD screens. Installation is really simple, you just have to click on recommended install and the software will install itself in less than an hour. A small LCD panel on the scanner will display how many scans were made in a day after it was switched on.

The software is very different than the scanners I used before. To be honest some of the parts were pretty confusing. Specially while saving multiple jpeg files, I faced a lot of issues. You can create your own multiple profiles in the software itself so that you don’t have to change settings every time you open the software which saves a lot of time. Although you will get the hang of it, still a software upgrade by Fujitsu would be great.

But if you still don’t get familiar with the software, you can always try the scanall Pro software of the predecessor model (6130Z).

The scanning speed is exceptional. It scans both single side as well as multiple. Majority of our scanning documents were single sided. So I decided to test its scanning speed for single sided papers. I truly was not disappointed by this beauty; it scanned on an average 60 pages per minute with additional 15 seconds of saving time on the disk.

With more than ten thousand papers scanned by my employees, I have faced just a few paper jams. The paper protection technology in the scanner will help you save your paper as it stops immediately when it hears at the sound of the paper getting stuck.

But as always no machine is perfect. Fujitsu 7160Z with such a heavy price tag still doesn't provides with network printing. So i had to keep separate scanner for each of my staff and the total cost got much higher due to this
The scanner doesn’t require maintenance. I usually clean the scanning strip with a soft cotton cloth after every 3000 scans or so.

It surely is a great improvement to its predecessor Fujitsu 6130Z.

Fujitsu 7160z is a fast and a reliable scanner with great features and a little confusing software. It is costly as compared to other scanners but with the quality, speed and efficiency, fujitsu 7160z will never let you down.
