  • I love how her country music is always generally different from her peers

Carrie Underwood has been a staple of country music ever since she won American Idol. She offers elegant change in the genre and is considered as the country queen of her generation, achieving the likes of Reba McEntire, Martina McBride, Shania Twain and Faith Hill in the past.

I love how her “country” music is always generally different from her peers. She loves to experiment with her music, and when she does they’re often nice clashes.

“Blown Away” is one perfect song that could fit with that description. Releasing a risky song like this could very

well harm her career, but she did it with ease. It seemed like the entire masses have been expecting her to drop this song and hail her the Queen of Country!

Such a shame though, that this song could have become her biggest hit had her label opt to push this song to pop radios. It’s definitely catchy, the production is top-notch, the lyrics are great with being divisive, her vocals are phenomenon and she basically had everything in this song that could have surprised the radios.

I stand by my opinion that this is Carrie Underwood’s best song. Yes, this is insanely better than the most-loved “Jesus, Take the Wheel” or “Before He Cheats”. There is something in this song that screams, “Hey! I’m a timeless classic” and “I dare any artist to sing this!”.

The lyrics are what I mostly love in this song. I never knew Carrie could write such amazing story. It talks about a girl whose father “was a mean old mister” and whose mama is “an angel on the ground” It talks about how her dad always abuses them. So when his dad was drunk again, laying ...

on the living room floor, she didn’t wake him up in the wake of a huge storm. Instead, she “hid herself in a cellar” and let the hurricane destroyed the house and let her father die.

It’s kind of a really dark story but I love it anyway. The production does not even tell you it’s dark at all, although it is indeed a change of Carrie’s past songs.

Speaking of production, I can feel the hurricane in the song’s backbone. The chorus is so explosive that it becomes impossible not to appreciate this real gem.

There are some country elements but I’m glad Carrie took some new elements to suffice the song’s needs.

And of course, the killer vocals. It’s Carrie Underwood guys, what did you expect? She didn’t won American Idol to become just a normal singer. This girl has it, and this song is a proof. When she does the adlibs “Blow Away-ay-ay” at the end of the song it’s a given!

Overall, Blown Away is a great country-pop song. If such term exists, it’s the best of this kind! Hopefully, Carrie will venture into this territory once more in the future!
