  • My youngest daughter got this for Christmas this past year from her grandparents and though we thought it was a little young as far as a toy for a 10 year old but it turned out that she really enjoyed it
  • That said, there were couple things that I thought could have been better
  • I would definitely suggest that anyone who allows their kids to use this color spinner put some trash bags down or use it outside where it won’t make quite the mess
  • The replacement refill kit is pretty expensive at over $8 so it’s not a toy that I would recommend allowing your kids to play with all the time because constantly replacing the paint and paper would get very expensive
  • I know Crayola is out to make money, but I think it would have been better is there was more paper and if the paint was just a little thicker

My youngest daughter got this for Christmas this past year from her grandparents and though we thought it was a little young as far as a toy for a 10 year old but it turned out that she really enjoyed it. Actually, all of my children enjoyed it and as a mom it really pleased me to see all of my children enjoying something together.

That said, there were couple things that I thought could have been better. Firstly, was that the paint is very thin and gets absolutely everywhere. When my kids were done playing with it,

I had paint all over my floors, chairs, and when that base gets to spinning hard. I would definitely suggest that anyone who allows their kids to use this color spinner put some trash bags down or use it outside where it won’t make quite the mess. That said, the unit itself is pretty easy to clean and so all it really takes is a damp sponge. It just creates a hassle to have to clean up a new mess every time that it is used.

Also, it comes with some paper but my kids when through the paper in the first day and so we ended up having to just cut some printer paper down to size. The replacement refill kit is pretty expensive at over $8 so it’s not a toy that I would recommend allowing your kids to play with all the time because constantly replacing the paint and paper would get very expensive. My husband and I spent over $30 the month of January replacing the paper and ink because of all the cold weather my daughter was constantly playing with it and so she was constantly running out.

She played with it all ...

the time and eventually the little crayons that it comes with to help with the designs all broke. Also, after all the use the push button the makes the wheel spin cracked on the top so we had to throw the toy away. I was afraid that it would cut my daughters hand because the plastic was stiff and the place where it cracked had some sharp edges.

Overall, I was pleased that my kids liked it so much, but constantly replacing the paint, paper, and white crayons got expensive. I would say this is a great toy for

now and then, but parents should understand that it isn’t one of those toys that will provide hours and hours of endless amusement. In reality it only takes about an hour for the paper to run out and kids to begging for more.

Overall, it was a great thought for a Christmas present and my kids loved it, but it was messy and I really wish that it came with more paper. I know Crayola is out to make money, but I think it would have been better is there was more paper and if the paint was just a little thicker.
