  • With Kernel Season's Bacon Cheddar Seasoning, I found that after applying just a small dusting on my popcorn, I had no real desire to add any more, or even use the seasoning again for popcorn, or for something like say a baked potato or soup, as I have used this brand's seasonings for in the past and will so in the future
  • The two flavors did seem to go well together, but I would have enjoyed the combination of bacon and cheddar together more had there been a less salty taste and if the bacon flavor had been more easily distinguishable as bacon rather than a somewhat weak recreation
  • Still, I was hoping that this particular flavor would have been just as good as some of the others I had tried, because I think, had it been handled differently, this seasoning would have been delightful

Bacon is a big thing for some folks out there. For them, adding bacon to pretty much anything and everything automatically makes what they’re eating that much better. Bacon has even been incorporated into some desserts! Now personally, I do like bacon, I just don’t like it so much that I crave it on various foods. I’m usually content having bacon with breakfast, on occasion, or on a bacon and egg sandwich, but all in all, I sometimes go months without eating so much as a slice of bacon. That being said, I still enjoy the flavor of it and that’s why I wanted to get around to trying Kernel Season’s Bacon Cheddar Seasoning. I was curious to find out how bacon would taste with popcorn, as well as if bacon and cheddar

would be two things that could compliment each other nicely.

For three dollars and twenty-nine cents, you get a two point eighty-five ounce shaker full of seasoning for popcorn, but also good for seasoning other foods of choice, too. That might not sound like a lot of seasoning, but the thing about this brand is, you don’t have to add a lot of it in order to taste the flavor. A light sprinkle is really all that’s needed. Some people may prefer to add more, but I find that too much of a particular popcorn seasoning can result in the flavor being too strong and overpowering. With Kernel Season’s Bacon Cheddar Seasoning, I found that after applying just a small dusting on my popcorn, I had no real desire to add any more,

or even use the seasoning again for popcorn, or for something like say a baked potato or soup, as I have used this brand’s seasonings for in the past and will so in the future.

Kernel Season’s Bacon Cheddar Seasoning is one of the brand’s weaker seasonings, in my view. While there is without question a bacon flavor present in the seasoning, the flavor seems to be compromised by a strong saltiness that conceals or gets in the way of the bacon taste. I realize that bacon itself is high in sodium, I kind of feel that too much emphasis might have been placed on replicating the salty nature of bacon rather than the bacon flavor itself, which was noticeable, but not exactly a perfect replica. I can say the seasoning reminded me of ...

bacon, to an extent, but it didn’t have the strong resemblance I was hoping for. The cheddar cheese, on the other hand, did, and that part of this seasoning did hit the nail on the head when it came to a precise replica of what cheddar cheese tastes like. The two flavors did seem to go well together, but I would have enjoyed the combination of bacon and cheddar together more had there been a less salty taste and if the bacon flavor had been more easily distinguishable as bacon rather than a somewhat weak recreation.

I’m pretty confident I’ll be passing on Kernel Season’s Bacon Cheddar Seasoning the next time I’m deciding on a popcorn seasoning. The brand has a number of other flavored popcorn seasonings that I’ve tried and enjoyed a

lot more than this one so it’s not like I don’t have a variety of other popcorn seasonings to choose from. Still, I was hoping that this particular flavor would have been just as good as some of the others I had tried, because I think, had it been handled differently, this seasoning would have been delightful. Bacon and cheddar do seem to go fairly well together, and had this seasoning had a bacon flavor that had a less salty, more natural taste to it, I have a feeling I would have enjoyed it, despite not really being that big on bacon to begin with. It was a good idea on the part of the company behind these line of seasonings, but the implementation of this idea on this particular flavor pairing ended up coming up short, sadly.

I actually loved this flavor as I do love most of this brands flavors. I will say I was expecting a little more bacon to pop out in the flavor. But I also use this on my chicken, may sounds weird but I LOVE the taste So it will be a repurchase in the future.

You can definitely apply this seasoning as well as others to a lot more than just popcorn. Baked potatoes, French fries, soups, bread, and the list just goes on. I’m glad you liked this flavor, as I’m sure others do as well, but there are other flavors from the Kernel Season’s seasoning line that I’d prefer to buy.
