  • Potatoes that come frozen in a bag and simply need to be placed on an oven pan to bake in the oven are a nice convenience for me and I like to buy different flavors and kinds of frozen potatoes from time to time so that I'm not always eating the same kind
  • I've purchased garlic-flavored frozen potatoes in the past and recall enjoying them, and they're not easy to find, at least in my area it seems, so I definitely wanted to give these a try and see how they tasted
  • One twenty-two ounce bag cost me one dollar and ninety-nine cents, and that seemed like a fair price to me
  • I found these wedges to be very easy to bite into and chew
  • It's a quality frozen potato no doubt, but while I undoubtedly enjoyed them, I wasn't blown away

Potatoes that come frozen in a bag and simply need to be placed on an oven pan to bake in the oven are a nice convenience for me and I like to buy different flavors and kinds of frozen potatoes from time to time so that I’m not always eating the same kind. At my neighborhood ALDI Food Market, I recently came across a new frozen potato item, Season’s Choice Garlic and Herb Homestyle Wedges Oven Roasted Potatoes. I’ve purchased garlic-flavored frozen potatoes in the past and recall enjoying them, and they’re not easy to find, at least in my area it seems, so I definitely wanted to give these a try and see how they tasted. One twenty-two ounce bag cost me one dollar and ninety-nine cents, and that seemed like

      a fair price to me.

Anyone familiar with frozen potato wedges likely knows that they are thick in cut and don’t come as crispy out of the oven as other kinds of frozen potatoes do. For me, that’s perfectly fine, as I can enjoy both crispy potatoes as well as soft ones, but for those that can’t enjoy both like I can, this product wouldn’t be a good fit. Like most frozen potatoes, between heating the oven and baking them, you’re looking at around thirty minutes or so of time and it’s always a good idea to turn the potatoes about halfway through their bake time in order to even cook both sides. While the scent of garlic wasn’t overly noticeable before and during baking, I could still make the scent out to

      an extent.

As the potato wedges are both thick and long, I didn’t make as many as compared to other kinds of frozen potatoes. I knew that they would be heavier and that not as many would be needed to leave me feeling full when added to the meal I was preparing. The garlic scent was more profound when the golden brown potatoes were removed from the oven and I was eager to give one a try just as soon as they cooled down a little. After a couple of minutes, I did try one and I liked what I tasted! While the wedges, for the most part, had a soft exterior, along the tips, they did get a tad crispy, which I was fine with, and the interior was even softer. I ...

found these wedges to be very easy to bite into and chew. As for the flavor, all I could make out was the garlic. It was a mild, yet pleasant garlic taste. It’s a flavor that could easily be overwhelmed and rendered pretty much non-existent with the use of a condiment like ketchup or topping like chili and cheese and that’s why I didn’t use any sort of condiment, sauce or topping. I’ll save that stuff for the plain variety of frozen potatoes!

Overall, there really isn’t that much special about the Season’s Choice Garlic and Herb Homestyle Wedges Oven Roasted Potatoes. It’s a quality frozen potato no doubt, but while I undoubtedly enjoyed them, I wasn’t blown away. That’s fine, though. What’s important to me is that they tasted good and that

the price was a good value. The potato wedges were a nice change of pace from frozen French fries, waffle fries, potato cakes and so on. There are plenty, and I do mean plenty, of different kinds of frozen potatoes to choose from, and as I said, while they don’t particular stand out, they’re certainly good in their own way. Thick, long cuts of potato, with the taste of garlic sprinkled throughout the length of the wedges, that are easy to prepare and cost just under two dollars is, all in all, pretty good in my eyes. I’ll buy them again without hesitation the next time I have a taste for garlic seasoned potato wedges and I would encourage others out there that like garlic and potato wedges to give these frozen potatoes a try!
