  • The phone only comes in with 256 MB of RAM, a storage of 8GB and a single core 800 MHz processor, which are the best one could in this price
  • The only thing that I think should have been done a bit better, is the back cover although it has a soft touch finish it easily collects dirt and finger traces
  • The video player can play 720p videos, but it consistently drops frame so if you're going to watch a video on the lumia 610 VGA resolution would be the best I would recommend

Nokia lumia 610 is one of the cheapest smartphone available in the lumia series. As the price of this smartphone is comparatively lower than other high-end smartphone. You’ll have to compromise on a whole lot of features. The phone only comes in with 256 MB of RAM, a storage of 8GB and a single core 800 MHz processor, which are the best one could in this price.

  • The lumia 610 gives pretty acceptable performance considering the hardware and the price I had to pay for it. The weak combination of the processor and the RAM makes it difficult for the phone to handle tasks and things get choppy at times. For example, every day actions like switching between applications or navigating through menus get laggy through time to time. On top of that, a number of popular application like Skype do not run on this device because of a hardware limitations.

One great thing about the phone is that once you link your social media accounts like: Facebook and twitter to the phone. All of your albums on the web will be available in the Albums section. You can tag your photos from there, edit them and upload them again.

  • The performance issues continue with the stock Internet browser which has a hard time rendering and loading heavy web-pages. Scrolling and zooming works fine. The browser loads simple web-pages quite nicely.

The device feels well built and its shape allows to fit quite nicely in the hand. The only thing that I think should have been done a bit better, is the back cover although it has a soft touch finish it easily collects dirt and finger traces.

  • There’s a 5 MP camera on the smartphone’s back with an LED flash. Quick snapshots look acceptable, but fine details are missing. Also the camera tends to over expose shots and white balance is not always accurate. When shooting in low light conditions there is plenty of digital noise present in the shot.

The only annoyance with the default music player is that each time when you want to transfer music from your PC to your smartphone you have to use the Zune application, because mass storage mode is not supported in this device. Other than that is gets the job done, it is simple to use and you get playback controls in the lock screen.

  • The video player can play 720p videos, but it consistently drops frame so if you’re going to watch a video on the lumia 610 VGA resolution would be the best I would recommend.

Because the phone has a weak combination of hardware, it won’t run high-end run games. I only played fruit ninja on this phone which is a low-end game, but still I was getting lag. So I won’t recommend you this phone if you can’t compromise on gaming.

  • I really liked the speakers of this phone. They’re pretty loud. The speakers are located on the back underneath the battery case. I would have really loved to see the speakers in front of the phone, because this way the sound quality doesn’t gets effected even if you put the phone down.

The 1300 mAh battery can help you go for 1 and a half days with the usual calls, emails and the regular stuff like texting and social networking and so on. The reason why the battery does so well is because the Lumia 610 ain’t got much running in the background that would need power.

As a conclusion, this device is a good option for those who are low on budget and would prefer a windows smartphone. But I won’t ever recommend this phone to someone who loves to play games on the phone.
