  • These retail for about $120 and I can say that these are, by far, the best headphones in the market, in this price range
  • And that’s why I love recommending them to others
  • For instance, the Beats by Dre cost twice as much, sound half as good, don’t have that much better of a build quality, and they don’t look that much better
  • You got the silver ring thing, the nice and shiny connector, and the cool minimalist logo, albeit stealing the likeness of the Linkin Park logo, but still, I think it look really slick
  • Once they’re on your head, you don’t have a problem…but they do turn a bit on their own when you’re not wearing them

It does come with a leather carrying pouch. It’s not a vital accessory but it’s nice to see that they include it. It doesn’t provide much durability or protection but it will hold your headphones nicely. It also comes with a gold-plated 1/4” adapter. It’s not any old cheap adapter. It screws in very carefully into the standard 3.5 mm headphone jack. You stick it in and you actually have to twist it on. So for DJs and people working in studios, or anyone who needs studio monitoring headphones, these are excellent because this connection isn’t cheap and works really well. But for the rest of the consumers, you’ll probably only need the 3.5 mm jack.

Not only are these headphones really good sounding but they’re also incredibly

well built. And that’s why I love recommending them to others. For instance, the Beats by Dre cost twice as much, sound half as good, don’t have that much better of a build quality, and they don’t look that much better. A lot of people might not buy a certain headphones because they aren’t aesthetic. I’ll tell you that there are a lot of ugly looking headphones (e.g. Skullcandy) but the M-50s isn’t one of them. You got the silver ring thing, the nice and shiny connector, and the cool minimalist logo, albeit stealing the likeness of the Linkin Park logo, but still, I think it look really slick. You also have a springy thing at the end of the connector, which is nice because it gives additional durability. The cord itself is rather thick, and that’s great to see as well not only for the durability but also for insulation. So you won’t get any rubbing or cable noise; it’s just really well-made and suits these headphones perfectly. The cord is also really long. If you do work in some sort of studio (like me), that’s a great thing to have….but for everyday use, you may have to tie it up or rubber-band it.

The ear cups are a very soft leather. They don’t pinch your head at all, which is great to see. My usual gripe about headphones is them not being comfortable enough and these are probably the most comfortable that I’ve ever worn. The only thing I don’t like is that they’re kind of flimsy. Once they’re on your head, you don’t have a problem…but they do turn a bit on their own when you’re not wearing them. It’s sorta designed that way, as a flexible unit, able to reach a variety of conformations. So I guess ...

      it’s kinda intentional.

As for the sound, I feel certain that it’s the best that you can get for this price. The highs are perfect. Pianos, cymbals, sirens…everything is pristine. There’s no harsh top ends or bad clashes and no sibilance. It doesn’t ever wash out or get muddled. These are some of the best highs I’ve ever heard in any pair of headphones, let alone a $120 pair. The mids let you hear everything. There’s hidden voices, hidden beats, hidden notes that you probably never heard of in your songs. It’s just so rich…it’s awesome. I also think the bass is great…and I think of myself as a moderate basshead. It adapts well to the different genres well and oscillates between heaviness and transparency. I feel that the bass is really true to the track. I don’t use an equalizer at all to tune up/down the bass level. It’s

tight, it’s accurate, and it’s clear. It’s not overpowering, or distorting, and balances with the other frequencies.

The sound stage is also good, considering that these headphones are close-back design. It’s not perfect and not as good as the Beyerdynamic DT770s, or the Denon D2000s, but keep in mind that such a comparison comes at a $200 price difference. It’s a great value product and for music listening, these are perfect. I wouldn’t recommend these for gaming, where you kinda need some sound stage, but for everything else, I think these are brilliant. Great build quality and great audio.

You don’t need an amplifier (though it doesn’t hurt if you have one)…and these can run straight line-out just fine (which is not something that you see often with more expensive headphones).

Just to re-emphasize, the sound is golden. I would twice as much for it. My props go to Audio-Technica for such a great product.

The price of headphones are too high. So the people will not buy this product instead of they will buy cheapest ones from the Amazon which will cost them around 15-50 dollars

There is no doubt that this is quite a costly headphones. But, you know it is not marketed for general masses. It is primarily meant to be used by professionals in studio.
