  • I’m also not sure to recommend the product for just-weaned puppies, as indicated, because my dog was a puppy at the time and she could hardly be persuaded to drink it

The vet who attended my sick puppy advised rehydrating supplements to relieve her wasting condition. For days my dog suffered from diarrhea and vomiting, and there’s always danger of severe dehydration. Mondex is an energy supplement recommended for pets weakened by disease. I add the water soluble powder to her drinking water so that she can take in some simple sugars that were lost. It’s essentially the same as mixing white sugar with drinking water as first aid for pet’s dehydration, but that home remedy doesn’t work, so a supplement suits my purpose.

      The powder is

not particularly hard to administer to your pet as additive to its drink, you just mix one or two tablespoons with water, but it remains a challenge to get her to lap up her water to a satisfactory amount. My puppy was wise enough to detect a change in her drinking water and was drinking less than usual because of that. I don’t see a marked change on the water when mixed with powder, no unpleasant smells, except that it turns slightly cloudy. If I give her plain water I see that she readily drinks up
a good deal to quench her thirst.

I continue to serve her drinking water with the powder. When I come back her water is barely consumed. How do I push her to drink it then? I thought this wasn’t doing anything. I mean I can’t force her to drink this oral solution or supplement, and there was no other choice but to serve her clean drinking water as plain as possible, if indeed the most practical and effective way to hydrate her. Because I hate having to worry over whether she drank enough or not,

I just stopped giving it to her as she will only drink plain water and nothing else (except milk perhaps). Water alone should replenish her and those sugars I can supply in her diet.

I have no idea if it really boosts energy. The oral solution was little consumed so I expect no such effect. The text on the bottle says that it can be used to prep dogs before strenuous workout, travel and even pet shows. But no disclaimer says that supplementation, unlike humans, is tricky for animals such as dogs; I mean that most

pet supplements don’t really work because we can’t get our dogs to like them if they are against their food instincts. The powder hardens inside the bottle and looks just like fine sugar. I’m also not sure to recommend the product for just-weaned puppies, as indicated, because my dog was a puppy at the time and she could hardly be persuaded to drink it. I doubt if it can serve as substitute to milk. The product costs 250 php. I didn’t have much luck with this supplement and would have no reason to recommend it.
