Samuel L. Jackson, Ed Harris, and Eva Mendes make up a stellar cast that didn’t make it too big in theaters. Cleaner feels a lot like an episode of CSI, a television show that has millions of viewers each and every week. With its CSI qualities there is more happening in Cleaner that makes it vulnerable to many gabs to viewers.

Cleaner is a bizarre film that feels too strange for its own good. There are times in this in this movie that feel so out there that you might forget what is actually going on in the current plot. For the most part you can grasp what’s going on in this movie, though if you miss one part in this film then the ending of the film might

      seem out of place.

Former cop Tom Carver (Samuel L. Jackson) now spends his days as a crime scene cleaner. Whenever a crime scene is tended to by the law then it is up to Carver to make a person’s house look brand new. When Tom Carver gets a phone call for a peculiar job he takes it and does his job as normal. Tom finds out the next day that he actually cleaned a crime scene for a murder that is being investigated.

Carver’s close friend Eddie (Ed Harris) is still part of the police force and decides to help his friend without telling anyone else in the force. Detective Jim Vargas (Luis Gunzman), is on the case and is starting to figure out that something is going

on between Eddie and Tom Carver. Now all three men are trying to do their best to figure out what is going on and the key to this case seems to be the murdered mans wife, Ann Norcut (Eva Mendes).

The main part of this film I felt was the chemistry between the cast, even the lesser cast that only gets a few minutes here and there. For a role that didn’t really get Jackson noticed I think this was one of his finer performances in a long time. He really does a nice job playing a retired cop who is now doing one of the dirtiest jobs in the entire world. Ed Harris and Samuel L. Jackson also play a good team together. I wouldn’t say they are ...

better than anybody on CSI but they do a nice job with the bizarre case that’s in front of them.

Cleaner does tend to throw some pretty unique parts into the story that make it stand out. Since the overall story is comparable to every crime scene show you know Matthew Aldrich had to do something so Cleaner didn’t bore audiences. This is just one of those movies that you need to pay attention to from the start, if you can do this then you will be treated at the end.

Packed on this DVD is almost 20 minutes of deleted scenes. All of these scenes do a nice job on giving more background on Samuel L. Jackson’s character. If you are not a real big fan of this

movie then most of these scenes won’t matter. These scenes are defiantly for fans only.

There is a nice commentary track on here with director Renny Harlin. Harlin’s track is full of interesting facts about Cleaner, this is one of those tracks that is worth while for anyone that really enjoys all the behind the scenes info. I highly recommend listening to this track if you get the chance.

I feel that Cleaner is one of those movies that will please anyone who is a fan of CSI and all of the Law and Order shows. The movie might have a few problems but I really do think that the overall movie is worth a rental at least. Give it a chance, you should find something in here that pleases you.
