I’ve been playing this game since it came out, and I can tell you it is worth the purchase. Unlike many MMOs that require a subscription fee Guild Wars 2 only asks that you pay for your game the ammount of times you expect to. Once.

No one can accuse it of being ugly either, the painterly style and attention to graphical details is certainly on par with other (subscription!) based mmos.

      The personal Story can

be weak through gameplay, but since my arrival in the fictional world of Tyria they have added living story, which is also not the most cohesive. So why even bring it up? Because living story isn’t just about hte story, it’s about keeping the user base active. Living story comes every two weeks (most of the time)and with it new opportunites for items and achievements that are limited time offers. This means there is always something new to do, and the quality as they experiment with the model is consistently getting better. Living story is evolving along with the world it’s in.

There is a cash shop, like many free to play MMORPGs in Guild Wars 2, but unlike that payment model Guild Wars 2 doesn’t give you anything that gives players a significant advantages, and the one’s that do give those small extra advantages can be bought with in game gold.

See there’s a currency exchange system you can use either Real world cash to buy gems or your in game gold. So if you have a lot of time but not a lot of cash you can save for that armor skin that’s in the shop that you really wanted.

There’s no need to mismatch your armor for stats either, Guild Wars 2 has made it possible to tranfer stats from one item to another, which for

me is a big thing. I’m a lady-nerd and dress up brings me back to the days of childhood. On that note the character creation options are great, with 5 different races and 8 classes.

There’s so much more I could say, but I think that exploring the world is a great experience and the joy of discovery is highly encouraged in the game itself. If you like RPGs or MMO’s I highly encourage you to join the community.
