  • I have found the LOOP to be great in terms of location and management, but I have not particularly enjoyed the lack of privacy and counterspace
  • I don't know about anyone else, but I love to cook, so the lack of counterspace in the kitchen poses a large problem for me
  • There aren't any full walls either (just a half wall with a sliding door between rooms), so privacy can become an issue
  • My only problem with that is the cost to keep a car in the garage

Alright, so anyone that knows about UCSB’s notorious college town knows that IV is a place of partying and all around craziness. People who want a safe and quiet place to live would probably choose to rent in Goleta or Santa Barbara, but I have found that IV does offer some decent apartments.

The LOOP is one such apartment. It offers a compromise for the people that want to enjoy a safer environment and the people that want to enjoy the wilder side of life. Located near the UCSB campus and

literally a five minute walk from the beach, it’s a prime location for students. It’s also located directly across from one classroom area and near the local police station (which is good for those that seek a peace-of-mind factor).

The LOOP’s management is extremely friendly and helpful while adhering to the rules set in the lease. These rules are relatively strict, but help with the overall atmosphere of the apartment. Keys are required to get into the building, go up the elevator, and then finally into the individual room. Renters are not allowed to hang things off the balcony, smoke in the building, or host more people than are in the apartment (so if there’s four renters, then only four extra people are allowed to be in the apartment).

full walls either (just a half wall with a sliding door between rooms), so privacy can become an issue.

For people that want to be in the center of everything that’s going on in the little college town, they won’t find too many problems with the small shortcomings of the LOOP though. They will love the ability to just walk downstairs to grab a bite of pizza or stop by 7-Eleven to get a Slurpy. Getting to campus isn’t an issue, and party-goers can easily walk to a friend’s place for

      fun.

There’s events held by the apartment and the ability to rent paddleboards. The rooftop gym is also a huge plus. It overlooks the ocean, so exercising at the gym has become something more than just getting fit.

For those that have cars, the LOOP also offers gated parking. My only problem with that is the cost to keep a car in the garage. It’s fairly expensive to keep a car at the LOOP (a couple hundred a month). There’s also a gated area for bikes and space to keep a surfboard.
