This soundbar promises a very nice low-profile design but also providing good audio quality as well.
First off, the design. This is one of the best looking sound bars out there, no matter what the price is. It’s a very glossy piano-black finish to it. It looks good with most TVs because it’s a very low-profile design. It’s not going to be sitting too high in front of your TV and it is adjustable, if the default is too high for you.
Another feature that this sound bar has (and most other don’t) is that it does have a built-in IR repeater. Sometimes, sound bars can block IR ports of TV sets out there. This one allows you to point the remote control directly at the sound bar itself, and it will send that IR signal through the repeater and directly to your
TV set. So you can change the channel easily, which eliminates the common problem that others would have to deal with.
It does come with a simple and small remote control that lets you control all the features and volume with. It does also have a learning function as well. So you’ll be able to use your everyday remote control that you use to control your TV and have it learn the YAS-101 to give all control to a single remote.
This sound bar only has 3 digital inputs and no HDMI ports at all. So, in most cases, you’ll find that you’ll still need to have everything plugged to your TV that you would normally already have and just run the optical cable from the TV to the sound bar. But most soundbars around this price range have at least 2 or 3
HDMI ports, so that’s a missing feature.
It also has no Bluetooth or AirPlay wireless streaming. So, you can’t sync up your phone or media device to start playing sound and I think that’s kinda a standard and I expected it.
The sound bar has dual front speakers, one on the left and the other on the right side. Unlike other sound bars that come with a separate subwoofer, this one has the subwoofer built in. It’s a 60-watt dual driver subwoofer, with a bass-reflex port on the right side to provide a deeper, richer sound. It also comes with a subwoofer out jack, just in case you want to add an extra subwoofer if the built-in one is not enough for you.
This sound bar uses the Air Surround Xtreme technology, which is supposed to be able to replicate 7.1 channel surround sound, meaning ...
