After watching a TV commercial advertising Suave’s professional new line of shampoos and conditioners, I decided to give their new Humectant moisture a try since I suffer at times with dry hair. I have in the past used Suave and have gotten good results. So I wasn’t too concerned with quality but I was skeptical with the claim to work as well as Nexxus. I have never personally used or brought Nexxus, but have heard good things about the brand. I suppose the concept is that you can get the same salon quality but

      at a non-salon price.

The label claims the formula is enriched with panthenol and keratin serum. If I’m not mistaken panthenol helps with split ends, that typically comes from having dry hair and keratin is the protein that our hair is made of. It also claims to have up to two times moisturization when used with the matching shampoo.

The first time I used it, I noticed that the conditioner felt kind of like body lotion. It wasn’t really thick like other conditioners I’m used to, but it wasn’t runny either. I’m thinking that this is how they can basically copy the formula used in Nexxus by watering down or substituting certain ingredients. The scent wasn’t really the greatest in my opinion. It smelled like a cholesterol treatment I used from another brand mixed unscented lotion. After suffering through the scent, I found that it’s a bit difficult to rinse from my hair. It took almost five minutes before the water ran clear. Once drying and combing through my hair, I noticed a slight difference.

My hair wasn’t any softer than normal, but it was easier to comb through.

I wasn’t too disappointed since it was the first use but I was still expecting better results. Still I pressed on and used it until the entire bottle was gone. I have to say it was a struggle to the very last drop. After using the conditioner the fourth time, I found that build up was a major problem and that my scalp began to itch and flake. My hair’s dry condition didn’t improve as much as I had hoped for. Sure my hair was more shiner than usual but that was
about it. Perhaps this conditioner will work wonders for someone with thinner hair that’s less course and less dry.

I have to say that I am disappointed with this conditioner from Suave’s new professional line. I expected it to be better. I think if they were to change the formula, and add different ingredients instead of trying to basically copy Nexxus, the conditioner would have been a lot better. I paid about two dollars for this, with tax included from Walmart. Unless they come up with an improved formula I don’t plan on purchasing this any time soon.
