I have read several reviews of this album that state that this is the long-expected come-back album by Oasis. People make claims that, after releasing numerous second-rate and pointless albums Oasis have finally recorded an album which is as good as their 1995 hit album (What’s the story) Morning Glory. I strongly disagree with this. Maybe these people have their objective reasons for making such claims, or they simply might be deluded and wrong. It is possible that these people simply were believing inside that Oasis are still theoretically sometime, should be able to release an album which is as good as their first records.

      But, I think

that if you have a sober look at this album, then you realize that it is not actually that good. At least there is one thing I am totally sure of: this album, from the point of view of its quality, has a lot more in common with their latest, bad albums, than with their first, good records. On this album I think that there is a pretty sharp division in the quality of material. The first four or five songs are pretty good.

They are catchy, well arranged, rather typical but high-quality Oasis tracks. The songs in the second half of the album are simply boring. I think that there are only three good features of this album. These three features stand and have quality, whereas in all other respects this album is a moderate to low-quality piece of work.

The first feature is the mere song called Bag It Up. This song is simply of very high quality. The guitar riff at the base of this song is truly rocking. This is one of those rock songs that sound like a march.

This song has a really great rhythm hook. But at the same time the melody does not get enough development on this song. This song does not have a chorus as such.

There is a verse, the part that goes: Golden, silver, and sunshine is rising, then there is the deviation part, which goes: Someone tell me I’m dreaming, the freaks are rising up through the floor…, and then there is a section which is basically the same notes as the verse, only sung a little higher, and with more emphasis, and with a slightly different ending.

And, with the duration of this song being almost five minutes, it does seem to drag on, and become boring, particularly since it does not have a solo section. Regardless, the guitar riff at the base of the track is so catchy this

song has been my ringtone for almost half a year now. I am not joking. The guitar riff was made to be a ring tone.

The second good feature of this album is the sound that the band have created. This is a rather good sound, compared to the sound of their previous records. At least this sound has quality and character, with good emphasis on the guitars, and proper dynamism. And the third redeeming feature is the vocal delivery by Liam.

Liam is singing pretty well. He is back in the game here. As far as all the other features are concerned, this album does not impress, and loses many points.
