  • I thought this was one of the best Tarantino movies I’ve seen
  • I thought Christopher Waltz did a marvelous job as Dr. Schultz
  • You can see the transition of his character from slave to bounty hunter, and I like the bond he formed with Dr. Schultz who actually gave Django his freedom
  • It was interesting to see both love and hate to drive a person to the extremes Django had to endure
  • There was a lot of backlash when this movie came out because of the strong language, but unfortunately that’s part of Black history and American history in general

Django Unchained is a movie that was released in 2012 and directed by Quentin Tarantino. The movie is about an ex slave named Django who goes on the hunt to find his wife, Broomhilda.

The movie opens up with a group of slaves chained together walking through the mountains and different lands to reach their final destination of their new slave owner. In the middle of their journey, a man in a horse and carriage stops the slaves seeking Django. This man is revealed to be Dr. King Schultz who is a former dentist now bounty hunter.

Dr. Schultz begins questioning Django about three fugitives when a shootout occurs,

leaving one of the men who was escorting the slaves to their new owner dead along with his horse, leaving the other man injured and screaming in agony. Django says he is able to identify the men and Dr. Schultz releases him to help him find the fugitives.

On their bounty hunting journey, Dr. Schultz tells Django if he helps him bounty hunt through the winter then he will help him find his wife and Django agrees.

I thought this was one of the best Tarantino movies I’ve seen. I thought Christopher Waltz did a marvelous job as Dr. Schultz. His character is very intellectual and comes across at ...

      • times—maybe all of the time—as a ruthless bounty hunter. However, his demeanor changes when he sees a slave savagely killed by dogs ordered by his slave owner played by Leonardo DiCaprio. The character was charming, witty, funny and overall entertaining.

Jamie Foxx did a great job in the leading role as Django. You can see the transition of his character from slave to bounty hunter, and I like the bond he formed with Dr. Schultz who actually gave Django his freedom. It was interesting to see both love and hate to drive a person to the extremes Django had to endure.

The score was great. It was a mix of

smooth jazz and western. I think the music in the movie was placed at the correct moments which helped add intensity to the film. I didn’t even mind the one rap song in the movie.

There was a lot of backlash when this movie came out because of the strong language, but unfortunately that’s part of Black history and American history in general. Overall it was good movie. There is a lot of gore and carnage which is a staple in all Tarantino’s movies. The script was great and the actors were even better. The movie does run three hours long, and the exciting part is that it does not drag.
