This is one of the most underrated album of the 1990s. I am sure that many people have heard it. And I have talked to many people who have heard this album, and everybody I talked to seems to like this album a lot. But somehow, there are many people, who will say that this album is a failure. This album did not sell as many copies as previous Oasis albums, and it also had its flaws and drawbacks pointed out by the critics. But, from the point of view of the average listener, particularly, when you listen to this album now, so many years after it was released, you just like the songs on it, and you say: This is some good music. It really is.

Now, I will start with the drawbacks

to get them out of the way. This album is unnecessarily long. It is stretched without any need. It is stretched out of all proportion. There are eleven actual songs, and the albums duration is over 70 minutes. Each song simply had to be terminated much earlier than it actually was.

I have no idea what the guys were thinking about when they were mixing this album, but they made a very big mistake. They took a traditional rock and roll song with verse-chorus-verse-chorus, but then they simply forgot to turn it off. So, a simple song will drag on for over seven minutes. Actually, you know, this is definitely the only, the very only drawback of this album. All the songs are great melodies. It would be such a tall order to go through all the tracks one by one, since in actual fact all of them are great, are equally great.

The band have actually shown remarkable progress since their previous records. They have definitely evolved, very organically and successfully. They have improved their sound. Their previous records had a very raw stripped down guitar roar, but on this album they have tamed their guitars, and by doing thus they made them a lot more appealing. The sound acquired depth, there were new dimensions opened. Liam is performing really well on this album.

What the band did with the guitars, Liam did with his vocals. He retained the power, but he added the feeling, without any loss of power, maybe even an increase. The singing that Liam is doing on this album is one of the ...

best you are ever going to find on a rock and roll record. He is taking every note with such precision and power. Liam was made to be a rock vocalist. He displays all his potential here.

He would not be very good for pop songs, for ballads, or numerous other genres of music, but rock and roll is his realm. My Big Mouth, the second song on the album is a rock song with such drive that it is unprecedented even for Oasis, the band which had created such songs as Roll with it and Hello. The guitar riff breathes and expels supreme energy. The tune has extreme drive and energy. Stand By Me is an extremely touching song, emotional, heavy, melodic. Songs I Hope, I Think, I Know and The Girl in

the Dirty Shirt are great rock and roll tunes.

I have played and sung the latter songs with my guitar for hundreds of times. That latter song should have been a single. It could really be a hit. Don’t Go Away is a very touching song. It is probably the only true ballad on this album, which is compact. The melody is extremely fortunate and memorable.

This goes for both the verse and the chorus. There are live versions of this song recoded in the 1990s, where Liam is killing it. The melody itself is truly remarkable, but when Liam comes on with his vocals, he just elevates the whole thing from sky-high to above sky. If you listen to this album, it will always be a part of you. The songs here are so good, you will never ever want to let them go.
