  • This latest installment of the series is definitely a fun game, retaining much of what made the earlier games interesting and expending on the gameplay in interesting ways
  • Seeing a sunrise from the top of a church tower is still an activity I like to do when time permits
  • Weapon selection is wide, with the standard swords, daggers and huge axes and hammer for use, not forgetting the ever favorite hidden dagger, of course
  • Overall, it is a great game, one I would recommend playing

I have been playing the Assassin Creed series since the first, so I can be considered a fan of it.

This latest installment of the series is definitely a fun game, retaining much of what made the earlier games interesting and expending on the gameplay in interesting ways. It is the biggest game in the series so far, and it shows, both in the positive, and the negative.

Graphics is great, befitting the high profile of the game. While there are minor glitches here and there, it’s nothing major, and will not deter you from the actions. Clothing move in the wind, with loose and trailing ends fluttering in the wind realistically. The landscape is varied, and retains the incredible day/night cycle from the previous games.

Seeing a sunrise from the top of a church tower is still an activity I like to do when time permits.

The music is, for most parts, fitting with the actions on screen. The sound of weapons clashing is distinct enough that you can often tell what weapons the enemy is using just from sound alone. Voices are very well done, with believable accent and speech pattens. Hearing the Native American’s own language is a surprising bonus, though without knowledge of the language itself, I can’t tell you how accurate it is.

Weapon selection is wide, with the standard swords, daggers and huge axes and hammer for use, not forgetting the ever favorite hidden dagger, of course. New to the series is the tomahawk, which is dual wielded with the dagger. For range, there is the pistol, and the bow and arrow. Smoke bombs made its return, but not its explosive counterparts. The hidden gun is also nowhere to be seen, but with a pistol available, I suppose it’s not really needed anymore. A pity though, I like that idea.

Animation is smooth, for most parts, though there are some weird moments when you are stabbing the thin air and someone dies a couple of steps away. Thankfully, it’s rare, and often has to do with being on different height from the target. The double-counter kills, in which you counter two person at the same time, is something that needs to be seen to believe, with a different group of animation every weapon you and ...

the enemy uses. Animals move believably, though they do get stuck in rocks sometimes.

The addition of navel battles is great fun too, with people scurrying about your ship as they try to fulfill your shouted orders, and it’s always fun to ram someone with your reinforced prow and see them break apart in your wake.

Hunting, I feel, is a hit and miss. Either you’ll love it, or you’ll mostly ignore all the animals running around while you go about your missions.

Stealth is another hit and miss area. I cannot tell you how many times I had to restart a mission when someone sported me from who-knows-where, when I am suppose to be in cover…

The interface is where I have most problems with. It is tedious

to select and change weapons on the fly, with having to press the R2 button and wait for the menu to load. A simple pop-up would work far better then the slow full screen menu you get in this game.

Also, whoever came up with the trading screen deserve to be drawn and quartered. You can only select one trading goods at a time, and your selection will always return to the first item when you want to select another, making the trading screen a cycle of scrolling through the list over and over again. Not fun at all.

Overall, it is a great game, one I would recommend playing. It is not perfect, not by a long shot, but it is a great way to spend a couple of afternoons.

No. Your name in this game is Connor Kenway. He is an ancestor of Desmond. You get to play as Desmond throughout the game as well. Connor is part English and part Native-American. In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, you played as Ezio Auditore. Assassin’s Creed III takes place a number of years after the events of Revelations.

Connor Kenway is a fantastic character created by assassin’s creed III makers. He is like angry young man, looking for revenge of his mother’s death. As a tribal child he knew all the tribal skills and also trained by am assassin to take his revenge. In turn of events his motive of only revenge has changed to save his people and George Washington.

Great to play and watch.

I have been playing the Assassin’s Creed series since the beginning and have always been a fan of its concept. Time travel great plot, unrivaled game play, and a good soundscape. With that being said, this installment especially made an impression on me, being an American History major in college. It was fascinating to go back in time, and be thrust right into the British empire. While I was always going to be a fan for life, this installment breathed new life into the series, not that it needed it. 10/10.
