The Hunger Games is a trilogy of books by Suzanne Collins. The first book in the series, simply just called The Hunger Games is my favourite book in the series. The plot follows a sixteen year old girl named Katniss Everdeen, who bravely volunteers to take her sister’s place in a blood thirsty event called The Hunger Games. The Games consists of a brutal fight to the death between twenty four children (tributes), one girl and one boy from each district of Panem. Panem is now modern day America but the story is set in the future. There are twelve districts and a capital, who host The Hunger Games, to remind the districts that they are powerful and as a warning not to rebel. Katniss must fight
against children twice her size, who have been training their whole lives for the event and have never even gone hungry.
My favourite part of the book was basically the whole of the time Katniss spent in the arena because it is action packed and very imaginative. The arena is the place of horrors and the way the tributes adapt to their surroundings and manage to survive is clever. I also love the parts involving the costumes Cinna designs and just Cinna in general because Cinna is such a likeable character.
