  • I like to glance at these since some products are silly but I’ve had luck with others
  • I found a product while I was browsing called the Total Pillow and was intrigued
  • The pain did not go away immediately until I changed my monitor stand but I still experience strain sometimes from sitting in front of a computer all day
  • No more fumbling around and bumping into the seat of the person in front of you, garnering dirty looks from them while you spend hours trapped in the air together… The only issue with this pillow is that the directions state you should not machine wash this pillow and can only spot clean it

I developed pain and tension in my neck muscles during the day caused by a monitor stand set too high. I grew tired of taking ibuprofen pain relievers and was worried about the potential liver and stomach side effects of daily use. I especially felt like my neck was strained when I was trying to lie down and watch TV. I either had to sit upright and be uncomfortable or try to wedge a throw pillow around my neck to relieve the pain. While I was shopping one day at Walgreens I just happened to walk by the As Seen on TV section. I like to glance at these since some products are silly but I’ve had luck with others. The Perfect Touch razor, for example, is quite a good product and you can read my review on that here as well. I found a product while I was browsing called the

      Total Pillow and was intrigued.

This pillow reminds me of those doughnuts that people on TV and in movies use when they get a groin or bum injury for comic relief. The pillow is shaped the same, round with a cut out circle in the center. It’s filled with tiny beans which are probably the same fillers used in bean bag chairs. The pillow itself is sturdy fabric and is totally flexible. You can fold it in half and use it like a travel pillow. You can leave it in its original shape to carry while traveling by wrapping over your luggage handle or you can twist it into a candy cane like design and place it behind your back for lumbar support. The Total Pillow also comes in different colors and patterns including blue, purple, zebra and cheetah patterns. I purchased the cheetah pattern.

The pillow worked wonders for me. I used it at night when I got home from work and wrapped it around my neck to relieve the tension I got from staring at a computer screen all day. The tension noticeably disappeared when I used this pillow. The pain did not go away immediately until I changed my monitor stand but I still experience strain sometimes from sitting in front of a computer all day. At first I still had to take a pain reliever to rid myself of that but the combined effect of the medicine and pillow reducing tension helped me to feel relief quicker than pain medicine alone. This pillow was also ideal for me when I wanted to lie down sideways on my couch and prop myself up to watch TV. Previously I was just propping myself up on my hand and it would fall asleep after a while, but now I use the pillow and ...

I’m much more comfortable. If I want to take a quick nap on the couch I also use this pillow by folding it in half since the decorative throw pillows on the couch do not offer enough support. This pillow is great for traveling since instead of wasting space packing a traditional open ended travel pillow you can just throw this one on your carry-on luggage handle. Best of all, when you’re on the plane and you need the pillow you no longer have to crouch down below the passenger seat in front of you while trying to maneuver in the cramped space you’re stuck in to dig it out of your carry on. I can’t say how annoying I’ve found that in the past. No more fumbling around and bumping into the seat of the person in front of you, garnering dirty looks from them while you spend hours trapped in
      the air together…

The only issue with this pillow is that the directions state you should not machine wash this pillow and can only spot clean it. However, I have never had an issue doing this. The product is very inexpensive at $10 a pillow and you can find it almost anywhere there is an As Seen On TV section. You can also order it online directly from the manufacturer and get two pillows along with a cold/hot compress and fleece compress cover. I simply purchased mine from Walgreens and once it gets dirty or breaks I would replace it again. I’ve been using it for about a year with no issues, so I would recommend this pillow to anyone else with neck or shoulder pain, anyone who works in an office environment or a frequent traveler. I may even consider purchasing another one for use at work to completely relieve my neck pain and tension.

Great review Do you think you could take this into the bathtub? I can’t tell if the material is water-resistant.

No, it’s actually not water-resistant. The outer cover is constructed using microfiber, which is fairly absorbent.
