Socorro Islands, Surigao Del Norte, Philippines
  • The entire cost was around P7,000 per person including the boat rides in different caves and a tour to Tiara Resort and Bucas Grande and then a dip at the corrals and one last stop is the jumping galore at the inland lagoon where in you savour all the rest of the entire tour

I was simply mesmerized by the beauty of the view shown on pictures a friend showed to me when they trekked Sohoton Cove one weekend. What really fascinates me are the jelly fish that scattered around the water and one can simply touch it with bare hands.

Sohoton Cove is just one of the things to see in Socorro Islands, Surigao Del Norte (Mindanao), Philippines. And to go there for a good grip of the tour is to arrange the trip and a boat that will take you to the entire tour.

I lead a group of six including myself, and delegate the task to someone else to make some contacts for the island tour. We were late as the boat expects us by 8:30 AM. We arrived past 9:00 at Hayanggabon port part of the town of Claver. We were advised to be early for the island hopping but

even though we have our own car but we somehow under estimated our travel time. The boat ride to Socorro Islands is about 40 minutes. One can see the Siargao Island from a far while on the boat and when you look behind you can see the Noventa mountains. The sun was cooperating and we have to be donned with sunblock. As we were nearing all of us were in silent mode as we were captivated by the beauty of the group of islands that defined Socorro which is known for this beautiful sight in this part of the island of Mindanao. God is truly awesome!

We arrived at a station were in there were tour guides and parked boats, then there was a restaurant as we can see tables and chairs but there is no food to order only soft drinks and junk foods and ...

      • other local foods being brought in. There was map of the entire islands and some soveiner items. Then we were told that we are to transfer boat as part of the arrangement. We transferred to a smaller boat and we were given life jackets.

Sohoton cove can only be entered on a smaller boat and on low tides, that is why we should have been earlier. But we managed to enter nevertheless and mesmerized again by the sight.

Since we did not pre-arranged for the food we have to bring in our own food. The entire cost was around P7,000 per person including the boat rides in different caves and a tour to Tiara Resort and Bucas Grande and then a dip at the corrals and one last stop is the jumping galore at the inland lagoon where in you savour all the rest of the entire

tour. What we missed was the Jelly fish lagoon because the trip there means another time and another boat (non motorized)ride and a cost of P500 per person per boat. Non-motorized boat is being used to go there so as not to disturb the jelly fish.

Ours was a day trip and the boat has to take us back to the mainland in mid afternoon because of the increasing waves as the day darkens. One can also arranged for an overnight stay ahead of time so that the tour coordinator can prepare for the food since the food are bought all from the mainland. And beside that part of the island has no electricity not even the resorts that we stopped on.

It is better to go to Socorro Islands on day time so you can have the tour the entire day and go back to the mainland before dark.
