  • I'm a huge fan of the NordicWare range of cookware so wasn't at all surprised to receive several items for my birthday from various friends and relatives, including this beautiful Lemon Loaf Pan which I couldn't wait to use as I enjoy making sweet or fruity loaves and the decoration on this pan would make my creations look as good as they taste
  • This ensures no air bubbles are present to spoil the effect of the lemons which will top your loaf, and also helps to make sure that all 'lemons' are well filled for the best looking loaf possible
  • Obviously this pan is best suited for when you're making a lemon (or other citrus) loaf, but you can use any cake mixture you like really with the only issue being that the lemon theme is kinda irrelevant once you deviate from citrus flavours
  • Not that this really matters, I made a delicious chocolate cake using this pan today and because of the dark colour you couldn't tell it was lemons on the top but the effect was still excellent and once I'd drizzled some hot pink icing over the top it just looked like a quirkily bumpy loaf

I’m a huge fan of the NordicWare range of cookware so wasn’t at all surprised to receive several items for my birthday from various friends and relatives, including this beautiful Lemon Loaf Pan which I couldn’t wait to use as I enjoy making sweet or fruity loaves and the decoration on this pan would make my creations look as good as they taste!

The pan will make a loaf which is roughly 11″ long, 5.5″ wide and with a depth of 3.5″. This is slightly smaller than other loaf pans I own and I had to adapt some recipes to make the correct quantity with no waste.

As with the majority of NordicWare bakeware products, there’s a clever

twist to this loaf pan and this is in the form of curved fluting around the edges and the fact that the bottom of the pan is shaped so that when you turn your cooked loaf out of the pan it’s decorated with a beautiful 3D design of lemons and leaves.

There’s a knack to filling the pan to ensure you get the best possible results from this lemon design; rather than just pouring the whole of your prepared mixture into the pan you need to slowly spoon the first bit in and repeatedly tap the base. This ensures no air bubbles are present to spoil the effect of the lemons which will top your loaf, and also helps to make sure that all ‘lemons’ are well filled for the best looking loaf possible. To ring the changes try sprinkling some grated lemon peel or finely chopped orange into these lemon shaped recesses for added flavour and a slight change to the appearance.

The pan is made of cast aluminum and features a non-stick coating on the interior, as well as a platinum infused exterior for even browning during baking. The pan is lightweight with handles attached to each end for ease of lifting it in and out, these handles get as hot as the rest of the tin so you still need to use an oven mitt when removing it from the oven ...

but they’re shaped to be comfortable to hold and allow you to get a good grip on the pan even when it’s filled.

The non-stick aspect works as brilliantly as any other NordicWare cake or loaf pan; turning over the pan and giving the bottom a couple of sharp taps is enough to release your delicious looking loaf onto a wire rack for cooling. I’ve baked several loaves now using this pan and without fail they have cooked through beautifully and evenly, I’ve never had one stick to the pan and only once has the lemon design been anything less than perfect - and that was my fault as I hadn’t been very careful in pouring in

the cake mixture so was left with a couple of not very well shaped lemon segments on the top!

Obviously this pan is best suited for when you’re making a lemon (or other citrus) loaf, but you can use any cake mixture you like really with the only issue being that the lemon theme is kinda irrelevant once you deviate from citrus flavours. Not that this really matters, I made a delicious chocolate cake using this pan today and because of the dark colour you couldn’t tell it was lemons on the top but the effect was still excellent and once I’d drizzled some hot pink icing over the top it just looked like a quirkily bumpy loaf.
