  • One of the features I enjoyed was the digital display of how fast I was actually going
  • And a plug where I could plug in my MP3 player because it was a long, boring drive at midnight while my husband and son were asleep going up and coming back
  • I’ve been driving a Hyundai for many years and have always noticed that they always have great gas mileage, but I was not expecting the Chrysler 300 to have good gas mileage as well
  • The car never had a problem getting up or down the mountain

When we decided to return to the Smokey Mountains for our vacation, my husband wanted to rent a car. I was all for it. It was less miles I would be putting on my own car. Yet, when he decided on a car, I was a little concerned. He wanted to rent a Chrysler 300. I’ve seen them on the road and they looked like very expensive luxury cars. I was a little concerned about someone maybe trying to steal and break into the car during our stay in the mountains, which thankfully didn’t happen.

The car itself was as big as a tank. My car is a Hyundai, which is a small car compared to the Chrysler 300. But once I got behind the wheel, driving the car was much lighter then my own vehicle. The slightest turn of the wheel and the car moved much more then I wanted it to. I had to be very aware of that, especially while driving on I-95 north and south. One

of the features I enjoyed was the digital display of how fast I was actually going. And a plug where I could plug in my MP3 player because it was a long, boring drive at midnight while my husband and son were asleep going up and coming back. The interior was very comfortable as well. I have never been one for leather seats for I seem to sweat a lot faster while sitting on them, but it was not noticeable at all this time around. The inside of the car was very spacious. My son and my husband, who both have long legs, had plenty of room to put out their legs in the front seat and the back. The seats were able to move almost all the way backwards so my husband could almost lay straight, while he was sleeping. My son was laid out on the backseat. While the car itself was quite large, to the standards of my own vehicle, the truck was much smaller then it ...

      • looked. It was because the backseat curved down and cuts off the half of the space in the back. We weren’t expecting that, for we bring a very big cooler with us with snacks and drinks for the long ride. But we were able to fit it, just a little tighter then we would have liked.

I’ve been driving a Hyundai for many years and have always noticed that they always have great gas mileage, but I was not expecting the Chrysler 300 to have good gas mileage as well. I only had to fill up the car with gas twice during our mountain trip, twice driving up and twice back. While driving on the highway, I was getting 30 to 35 miles a gallon depending on the level of the road. And while in the mountains themselves, I was getting between 19 to 23 miles a gallon. And that was driving up and down roads that went up and down 3,000 feet. The car never had a problem getting

up or down the mountain. Yet, I didn’t like the fact that there was not a lower gear. I like to go down the mountains in lower gears so I don’t have to ride the breaks. It ruins the breaks and makes them burn. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve smelled the smell of burning breaks while traveling in the mountains, from our vehicles. And the gear shift was a very tiny knob that I couldn’t even feel when I had put the car in gear, even when looking down at it.

We rented the car from Avis and I am very pleased to say that it was very painless experience. We picked up the car and dropped off the car without any problems or complaints. It only took a few moments during each interaction. I thought the Chrysler 300 was a very nice luxury car and it was nice to drive something different, but I really missed my Hyundai and couldn’t wait to get back home to it.
