  • Mitsubishi Cedia is one of the lovely sporty cars in India around the 10 lakhs mark, but unfortunately not too many car buyers consider this fantastic option
  • Mitsubishi isn't a new entrant in the Indian car markets, but even since they stopped marketing the Mitsubishi Lancer sedan, folks have almost stopped consider Cedia as an alternative to other sedans in its segment such as Toyota Altis, Honda City, Skoda Laura, and the new Ford Fiesta
  • On the Whole It’s a fantastic sedan priced at just 9.4 lakhs (ex-showroom price in Bangalore, India), and I’d certainly recommend everybody to take a test drive of Cedia, before considering other options in the segment

Why Should You Pick Mitsubishi Cedia Over Honda City, Ford Fiesta and Toyota Altis ?

Mitsubishi Cedia is one of the lovely sporty cars in India around the 10 lakhs mark, but unfortunately not too many car buyers consider this fantastic option. Indian automotive market has become the focus all the major car manufacturers, since the sales in Asian markets have started making a huge impact on their overall profitability.

Consequently, Honda introduced their new Jazz, Honda City, and now even the Brio compact hatchback in India, while brands like Toyota, and Hyundai have been the market leaders since time immemorial. Mitsubishi isn’t a new entrant in the Indian car markets, but even since they stopped marketing the Mitsubishi Lancer sedan, folks have almost stopped consider Cedia as an

alternative to other sedans in its segment such as Toyota Altis, Honda City, Skoda Laura, and the new Ford Fiesta.

I’ve always loved sports sedans, and hence I picked Mitsubishi Cedia over Honda City and Toyota Corolla Altis for 4 simple reasons -

      1. It looks sporty, 2. It has a really quiet cabin 3. It has great pickup, and its performance can be fine-tuned to 500HP, and 4. It isn’t as common as others - you don’t really see Cedia on Indian roads, as often as you see other vehicles like City, Altis, Fiesta, and Jetta… So, I didn’t really want to pick something, which is way too common!

      How Good is the Performance?

My Cedia vrooms from 0-100kmph in about 8 seconds quite comfortably, and I’ve tested it ...

      • to speed of 188 kmph on highways… It’s extremely stable at high speeds of around 130-140kmph, and smoothly cruises along at around 110-120kmph.

When I took a test drive of City, its cabin was equally quiet, but it somehow lacked the power punch that Cedia offers. Moreover, Cedia has a 1999cc engine, which can be fine-tuned up to 500hp, provided you’re ready to sacrifice the mileage, for the extra power!

You can actually use it as a Racing Car

You can take your Cedia for a spin to a racing track, and you’ll simply love it… You can simply forget about doing such a thing with a normal sedan like Ford Fiesta, Maruti Suzuki Sx 4, or Honda City, unless you tweak their power levels, and fine tune the

        handling as well as performance.

        Great Fuel Economy!

Car manufacturers may give you fancy figures like 14kmpl, but when you drive on the jam-packed streets in metropolitan cities like Bangalore, Delhi, or Mumbai, you’ll never get anything above 10kmpl from a C+ segment sedan, but this is yet another area where Mitsubishi Cedia really shines!

I’ve been driving my 2011 Cedia for last 14 months, and I’ve been consistently getting 11-12kmpl, and when we go out for outstation trips, its mileage goes up to 15kmpl, which is simply fantastic!

        On the Whole

It’s a fantastic sedan priced at just 9.4 lakhs (ex-showroom price in Bangalore, India), and I’d certainly recommend everybody to take a test drive of Cedia, before considering other options in the segment.

Anybody with a budget of 9-10 lakhs must look at this superb car!
