  • However this was a cold day and we had been walking for a long while, both of us needed to recharge so I decided I'd settle for some kind of tea or a chai latte and maybe some kind of light snack
  • It was actually quite wide and varied for what I thought was a coffee place
  • There were numerous sandwich and salad options, many of which sounded delicious and a lot of which were not your typical cafe offerings
  • There were also some very interesting dessert options such as pancake bites, which looked adorable and very appetizing and the Argentinian alfajor cookies which I have not seen anywhere that was not a specialty bakery
  • The food, the selection, and the drinks are wonderful and I would definitely come back for them, however the set up and the space is nowhere near what it should be for a cafe

Recently while shopping a friend of mine and I stopped in at Aroma Espresso bar to grab some coffee and a bite to eat. I have passed by this establishment many times and though I was always slightly attracted by the minimalist look of the logo and the d├ęcor inside, I never really had a reason to go in being that I do not really drink coffee. However this was a cold day and we had been walking for a long while, both of us needed to recharge so I decided I’d settle for some kind of tea or a chai latte and maybe some kind of light snack.

Upon entering I realized that although the design of the place looks cool and chic, it is not very useful or accommodating for customers. The entrance, instead of facing the cashier where the order could be placed, leads you to the back area where

the orders are dispensed to the waiting customers. Not only does this prevent you from placing your order because you’re kind of confused as to where you’re supposed to go, but you’re also stuck finding your way through hoardes of people who are just as eager to pick up their food and drinks as you are to order it. My friend and I came in on Saturday afternoon so the place was packed and the narrow walkway between the counter and the window was stuffed and uncomfortable. When we finally made it to an area where there was not a crowd already nesting, we were at last able to look over the menu. It was actually quite wide and varied for what I thought was a coffee place. I ordered an avocado sandwich and my friend picked up the pancake bites and a chai latte. The order took forever to come out. I understand that this was a busy time for the place, but it was still unreasonably long and the place was actually clearing out by the time we ordered so I’m not sure why it seemed to take longer than it did for some customers before us. Once the food and drink arrived they looked and smelled amazing and we could not wait to dig. There was nowhere to sit because seating at this place is pretty limited, again due to how narrow the open space is, so we had to huddle in a corner and

eat our food like some kind of squirrels. Honestly it was worth it! My sandwich was amazing, the bread was fresh and even warm although not toasted, the avocado was creamy with crunchy onions and the addition of a hardboiled egg and jalapenos added for some wonderful kick and flavor, definitely a unique combination. The pancake bites hit the spot too, I only had one but it was perfectly soft and chewy with those little crunchy edges that really make pancakes special to me. The chai latte was not too sweet, but still very well spiced and frothy.

The food, the selection, and the drinks are wonderful and I would definitely come back for them, however the set up and the space is nowhere near what it should be for a cafe! It is harried, uncomfortable and chaotic, all the things that you don’t want in a place that is supposed to be for relaxing and enjoying food.
