This little breakfast and lunch cafe is one of my absolute favorite places to eat in Asheville. They have delicious food and speedy, friendly service.

Cafe Ello is located on Haywood Street in the heart of downtown Asheville. It’s near many local stores, making it a convenient place to eat before go shopping. There’s plenty of off-street parking, and it’s near several parking garages. We first stopped here because it was open on Sunday, and I’m always thrilled to find restaurant options for Sundays when

      many places are closed downtown.

The decor is simple but cute. The art in the wall is really great, and I assume the pieces were done by a local artist since they are all for sale. I always think it’s a nice touch when local businesses feature local artists. They also have a “coffee bar” along the wall so customers can refill their own coffee. It definitely frees up the only two employees for more important things: like cooking their delicious food! They are two ...

      • of the most friendly people I have ever met, and they always chat up their customers. Even if you haven’t been in for a few weeks, they treat you like you come in every day. The only complaint I really have about the decor is that the seats aren’t the most comfortable, but they do go with the decor.

The food is absolutely fantastic. I have a hard time ordering anything but their Smoked Salmon Scramble which consists of scrambled eggs, smoked salmon, cream cheese,

chives and onions. It’s a delicious combination! It comes with toast and your choice of grits or hash browns. They serve the most delicious multigrain toast and perfectly seasoned hash browns. Even the plain grits are quite tasty! They also have a delicious huevos rancheros and banana oatmeal brulĂ© - and all of it is under $10!

This cafe serves the one of the best brunches in town, and I’d recommend it to anyone and everyone. Just be sure to get there early because they close at 2pm!
