Samsung is one of the leading cellphone companies in the market today. One of their strategies includes offering cheap touch screen mobile phones to consumers. Being cheap, does not mean being of lower quality. Take for instance the Samsung Corby II which is selling at PHP 4,750 only. Such a cheap price for a touch screen phone.

The Samsung Corby II has a wide screen display with bright colors, speakers loud enough to keep you rockin’ to the sound of music and a regular 2 megapixel camera for shooting those oh so intimate moments with your friends with friendly benefits. Oh, 1 more thing, this phone is also Wi-Fi ready. You

can browse redtube, youtube or any kind of tube all you want as long as the battery will permit. I hate to say this, but boy, does Samsung get nailed in the battery department. A few internet sessions here and there and voila, half your battery is depleted. Thankfully, screen brightness can be adjusted so as to conserve battery but still, they should have done better.

The Corby II is run by android software. It has the usual calendar, stopwatch, radio, memos, calculator, etc. that normal phones also have. Text messaging is still quite hard to do which is always the case with touch screen phones. I can no longer text ...

      • while not looking at the screen. What sets it a teeny bit apart from the competition is that it has a built-in, fully functional English dictionary (definitely useful for those pesky essays in class).

Those addicted to mobile games will also be pleased with this phone as it is compatible with a wide array of touch screen games. However, some problems arise when playing some games wherein not all in the game can be seen thus blocking some text or some gameplay elements resulting in some frustrating gaming moments. Still, like most of the Samsung phones in the past, the games could only be saved in the phone memory and not

in the memory card. This leads to the lack of ability a lot of games in the phone. To remedy this, I just saved the game installers in the memory card and whenever I want to play a game, I install it to the phone memory and when I no longer am fond of playing the game, I just delete it (do not delete the installer so that it can still be installed whenever you want to play the game again).

Is Samsung Corby II worth the purchase? The answer is yes. It may not be as feature-packed as other mobile phones out there but considering its price, this really is a bargain.
