  • It’s not just the best Batman game of all time, but one of the BEST games of all time

Batman: Arkham City makes its predecessor look obsolete in every way. You ARE Batman. You roam the streets of Gotham, stopping crime, and breaking the bones of the evil doers. I wanted to hate this game, find something wrong with it. I couldn’t. It’s not just the best Batman game of all time, but one of the BEST games of all time.

Story: Bruce Wayne is thrown into Arkham City by forces sent by Hugo Strange. Batman figures out that the prisoners of Black gate and Arkham Asylum have been moved to a section of Gotham, known as Arkham City. After breaking lose, Batman suits up and gets ready to deal with a variety of problems, such as a possible plot to kill him called Protocol 10 and his secret

identity in stake being known Hugo Strange, the warden who was strangely placed by the Mayor. Obviously having all the criminals of Gotham in one area is a bad idea, so it is up to Batman to stop this madness.

Gameplay: There’s way too much to put into a review. Everything from the first game (read my Batman: Arkham Asylum review) is improved much open. The gliding mechanic is some of the best in gaming, and anything you would Batman to do, he could probably do. The combat is swifter, faster and more brutal than ever before. Batman’s gameplay is FLAWLESS. Also, there are Catwoman levels which coincide with the game well and also if you buy it preused, you would not be able to use her, which does NOT ...

      • affect the story at all. (Though I would recommend it.) Everything is top notch, from stealth, to combat, to forensics. (Though I didn’t think there was enough of forensics.)

Audio: This is probably some of the best audio in gaming history next to topnotch games like Battlefield and Bioshock. Mark Hamill and Kevin Conroy play the perfect Joker and Batman, and everyone from Catwoman to the thugs you beat up. Everything is perfect, even though I felt sometimes thugs said the same things too many times, far too often. The music is topnotch as well, setting the mood and making events all that more intense. The sounds of furious punches and knives and swords sound great and rarely anything can compete with it.

Graphics: Eye bleeding. It looks so good.

Everything from facial animations to Batman himself. Though sometimes there are texture pop-ins and sometimes weird faces, the star of the game is Arkham City. Everything teems with personality and originality, and the way Batman smoothly traverses it all looks so good I would believe super aliens programmed it. The smoothness of the combat looks great as well, with the occasional ugly takedown here and there, but that’s no bother.

Last Comments: It took me about 14 hours to beat the full game, and that’s only the main storyline which was only 35 percent. There are challenge maps, story plus mode that proves a real challenge, side missions, and more DLC coming our way. Plus, zooming around the city and dropping some fools is better than EVER. BUY IT NOW.
