The first episode of season 8 of House is a prime example of why I love the show so much. House is unlike any other show I have seen on TV- it is daring, unconventional, witty, sarcastic and completely unpredictable. Predictability is a core element in creating a successful TV show because the viewers need the comfort and the anticipation of what they are about to view. The creators of House often disregard this principle, in previous season they were not afraid to replace most the show’s cast. In this season they take it one

step further- not only do they replace they cast, but they also put House in a completely different setting, a different world you might say, the inside of a prison.

After driving his car inside of Cuddy’s living room at the end of last season, House is sent to prison. The show picks up at what is supposed to be his last days in prison. He is due to be released on parole due to prison overcrowding. But it doesn’t make House very happy. He sent himself to prison to be punished for what he has ...

      • done and it almost looks like he is content to be there.

While in prison, House is approached by one of the inmates who asks for a medical consult. At first House refuses, he decided that he was done with medicine. But after witnessing the prison doctor making the wrong diagnosis, he can’t help himself. He intervenes in an attempt to prove that he is right. Saving that man’s live does not come easy. House must pay dearly for his actions, but it looks that he is content with this decision. All the while, it

looks like his has created himself a new team that consists of the young and idealistic doctor, a muscular cellmate who protects him and the head of the medical division who takes the place of Cuddy.

In essence, the new season of House is more like a new show in its entirety. While it is so different from all the previous episodes, it is just an enjoyable and witty as it always has been. The episode has a really great pace. I am looking forward to seeing the rest of the episodes of season 8 of House.
