  • Opening up with a fairly quick but empty sounding introduction, the intro makes good use of some nice bass fills, but unfortunately really lacks in a guitar riff to hold my attention
  • Overall, I find the music on Rock And Roll to be interesting enough to progress the song along, and I do like the use of multiple sections of lead guitar work, but I will say that I think the band could’ve cut off about a minute of this track as it certainly begins to feel slightly repetitive as the song approaches its close

Rock And Roll is a song by The Velvet Underground which appears on their album Loaded. Opening up with a fairly quick but empty sounding introduction, the intro makes good use of some nice bass fills, but unfortunately really lacks in a guitar riff to hold my attention.

Nevertheless, Reed does a good job with the vocal delivery of the first and comes up with a vocal melody that fits with the music behind him in both the

      verse and chorus.

Though a guitar lead does come in for a bit after the first chorus, there still seems something off about the verse since it doesn’t make use of a guitar, but I will admit that the simple rhythm created by the drums and bass does indeed at least cover for holding the song together and keeping the rhythm moving along as well.

Following the second chorus of the track, the band goes into an even ...

      • longer instrumental section which makes up for the lack of guitar in the rest of the track.

Overall, I find the music on Rock And Roll to be interesting enough to progress the song along, and I do like the use of multiple sections of lead guitar work, but I will say that I think the band could’ve cut off about a minute of this track as it certainly begins to feel slightly repetitive as the song approaches its

        close.

However, I will say that Reed does a very good job with the vocal performance throughout the track and the progressing amount of energy he gives on each verse or chorus certainly helps to hold my attention on the song.

Overall, the sound of the track pretty traditional and lacks the noise rock or more experimental aspects the Velvet Underground had on earlier albums, but I’d say this is still an enjoyable song every once and a while.
